libbeid2 software package provides library to read identity information from the Belgian electronic ID card, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libbeid2
libbeid2 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libbeid2 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libbeid2 *
You will get with libbeid2 package name, version, architecture and description in a table
